CLEARLAKE MODELERS FLYING SITE RULES

 

  1. All flyers MUST have a current A.M.A. Card in his/her possession.
  2. No flying power or power winch launched planes alone, you must have a license driver present.
    Exception; Small electric (with cell phone), hand launch sailplanes, budgie launched sailplanes.
  3. All new model aircraft will be safety checked, and radio equipment will be range checked with the transmitter antenna retracted.
  4. All 2-cycle engines .10 and above must have an expansion type muffler. 4-cycle engines below .61 will be exempt.
  5. As soon as possible when you arrive on the fling site take your transmitters to the impound station with antenna down and tx off for staging. You must have the frequency pin when you use your transmitter for any reason. Your antenna should be in down position when you turn off even with the pin. Just before you turn on your transmitter, yell out your frequency as secondary precaution. In turn all other flyers should yell out their frequency on or off to keep others informed as to who is on what numbers that flying day.
  6. Flying hours; Mon-Sat 9-am until dark. Sun 10-am until dark for power, 9am until dark non power planes. No gas engines to be run before set times above.
  7. All fliers will have a spotter to assist them in looking for other model aircraft and full scale aircraft that may fly into our fields air space.
  8. All initial turns on take-offs will be away from the pits, spectator and parking areas. No flier will perform any maneuvers, flights of any sorts or landing approaches over the pits, spectator and parking areas with the exceptions of sailplanes at thermal high altitudes.
  9. Every member who brings a guest, or invites a non-member to fly is responsible for the actions of that person and their conformance with the club rules. The member must have his/her AMA card in possession and be present at the field with their guest. Any guest that comes out to fly on a regular basses or more than three times must join the club. If you cause someone to damage his/her plane through negligence you are responsible and you must settle with that person.
  10. No Alcoholic beverages or drugs will allowed to be consumed by any flier while at the club’s flying field.
  11. Pick up all trash, broken planes, bottles, can, and butts take out what you bring in.
  12. Maximum altitude for gas engine planes not to exceed the surrounding ridges, sailplanes and old timers not to exceed what is called speck.
  13. No starting or running engines in shaded picnic areas. (no fuel on the picnic tables)
  14. All pilots must be in the designated pilot boxes for take off and landings, exceptions shall be announced by that days field Marshall for Sailplane, Hand Launch field configurations.
  15. Do not give out the gate combo to anyone. Do not leave the combo one number off and tell a non member to just move one number to let in the gate. The one number off may be used, just don’t tell anyone, last one out spin combo. You must accompany any guest from gate to field and back. Exceptions are with special lock for special flying events. You may travel to a downed aircraft for search and recovery only. No hiking about the ranch.
  16. Smoking not allowed on the field or surrounding the runway, smoking is only allowed in the designated smoking area. Do not litter your butts you must take out what you bring in.
